Two minutes later, she stood up and asked my dad: “How long has she had hearing loss?” He laughed. “She doesn’t have hearing loss. She just doesn’t pay attention.” My aunt looked him dead in the face and said, “She has significant hearing loss in both ears. Probably since childhood. She wasn’t ignoring you.
