Well done to our Minor girls who braved the cold and competed in the Cross Country Connacht Finals today in Loughrea. While it wasn’t our day, the girls did St Joseph’s proud.  We look forward to competing in the Track And Field events later in the year.

Congratulations to 3rd year music student Hannah Pittendrigh who is through to the finals of the Siansa Gael Linn competition with group ‘Seoda’ under the direction of Stephen Doherty. The group will perform and compete in the National Concert Hall on 23rd March. Best of luck!

Ceiliúradh CEIST 2025 A special mural of St. Brigid made from over 500 individually designed squares created by students in RE classes. This was displayed in the school first, and then in parish church over the weekend - a wonderful collaboration between school and parish.

This week, we celebrate Catholic Schools Week 2025 this week (19th-25th January). The theme for this year is Alive in Christ. Students will participate in a variety of activities and events during their RE classes.

As always, during the month of November, we remember and pray for loved ones who have gone before us. In RE class, students took time to reflect and remember deceased family members and friends by writing their names on a star and placing it on the remembrance wall in the prayer

Congratulations to our very own Mary Morgan who ran the Dublin Marathon last weekend. What a fantastic achievement! We are very proud of you Mary!

Our First Year students are now well and truly a part of the fabric of St. Joseph's. Their mentors have organised lots of activities for them, like this dance competition! It has been lovely to see the girls grow in confidence and make new connections. Well done girls!

Our 5th Year DCG students met with Westport Town Architect Simon Wall last Thursday to discuss Westport’s holistic approach to town planning. A huge thank you to Simon for such an informative, inspiring and fun morning.

NCCA School Consultation Visit We were delighted to have representatives from the NCCA (National Council for Curriculum & Assessment) visit St. Joseph’s last week as part of a consultation regarding the redevelopment of senior cycle History & Design and Communications Graphics.

Our Gospel Choir enjoyed a trip to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre to see broadway musical show ‘Wicked’. The choir's winning song from last years competitions was taken from this musical. It was a treat for the choir to see the song performed live by a professional production.
