@stlanalytics The Blues aren’t far off from being a playoff team. We have the goaltending, the D will be better next year. They have cap space, draft capital, and a ton of good prospects. They will be active at the draft and I believe they’ll be fine next year. Thomas isn’t that old.

The point of this tweet was not “Trade Thomas” it was that the Blues young core isn’t close to being good enough to maximizing Thomas’s prime if their plan is to wait for them all to develop and not make some bold external additions

I really think if there’s a chance for the Blues to move up to 2-4 and draft Stenberg they need to do it. Think he’s the safest player in the draft with a top-5 ceiling as well. Can be a top-6 forward next season and will be a Guentzel+ type player for his prime.

The Blues have traditionally avoided this player type like the plague, but I would love to see them target one of the little wizard defenseman Bleyl or Villenueve. Those guys can be the rising tide that floats all boats. Force multipliers for elite forwards.

@JamesRyan_44 Honestly… Villenueve might be a bit ahead of wear Lane was. Lane’s development has been unreal though

@stlanalytics Won’t happen and honestly we don’t need one like that. Neither compete away from the puck like Lane does or have the instincts and twitch of Lane. Much prefer a safer D we can project long term to compliment Jiricek/Broberg/Lindstein etc..
