This isn't Hiroshima in August 1945. This isn't Dresden in February 1945. This is Vovchansk, Ukraine, in December 2025—just before Christmas. Fuck you, Europe, for your damn cowardice in stopping Putin.

@Niall_Emmart No reason why ZK ASIC can't have more cache, HBM access and most importantly much faster specialized prime field operations baked in, instead of high-latency massively parallel INT32s that GPUs only support.

8/n A final note: The 90.2 GB data movement is baked into the proof system and will be the same for GPUs, FPGAs, and ASICs. ZK ASICs will need fast (and costly) buses to handle this. That’s why GPUs are the perfect match to drive zkVM performance improvements.

1/n What’s the speed limit for GPUs? Why do some teams achieve 10x proving speedups while others hit 100x on the same hardware and algorithms? @nvidia calls it "Speed of Light Analysis", a topic near and dear to my heart. Let’s unpack it.

@Niall_Emmart Buses on ASIC are not that expensive. What is really expensive is having a lot of cache memory on chip and access to fast external memory (HBM). There is a lot of work done in that direction in AI and NVIDIA is not dominating because of great architecture but because of CUDA.

@Niall_Emmart This is a very well known paradigm, demonstrated in running modern AI models, that eventual bottleneck doesn't come from computation but from data movement. To mitigate this, there is a lot of effort (specially in AI) to perform so-called in-memory (near-memory) computing.

The Russians have used for the first time in Ukraine ODAB-9000, a high-powered aviation vacuum bomb, the video has been published by pro-Kremlin telegram channels It is claimed that the footage was shot in Vovchansk, Kharkiv Region. The media say that this type of bomb is one of the most powerful non-nuclear weapons in the world.

Hash functions are a crucial component in incrementally verifiable computation (IVC) protocols and applications. Among those, recursive SNARKs and folding schemes require hash functions to be both fast in native CPU computations and compact in algebraic descriptions (constraints). However, neither SHA-2/3 nor newer algebraic constructions, such as Poseidon, achieve both requirements. Read how this problem is overcome in the following paper: Lorenzo Grassi, @PonosTechnology, Ruhr University Bochum Dmitry Khovratovich (@Khovr), @ethereum, ABDK Consulting Reinhard Lüftenegger, Graz University of Technology (@tugraz) Christian Rechberger, Graz University of Technology (@tugraz) Markus Schofnegger (@mschofnegger), @HorizenLabs Roman Walch (@rw0x0), Graz University of Technology, @TACEO_IO eprint.iacr.org/2023/1025
