Hey there. As you all know, my name is mom0ka and i have worked as an artist in fandom spaces for over 10 years now. In spite of my effort to keep things positive, I have something that I unfortunately feel compelled to address publicly due the situation escalating out of my control. To be clear, I’m sharing this not to fuel drama but to professionally distance myself from someone who has a proven track record of not only speaking about me with vitriol, falsely calling me a “psycho,” “stalker,” and “scammer," but encouraging these false narratives to spread, further damaging my reputation after months (at this point a year) of disengagement on my end. As many of you know, my own art style (seen in my recent Xenoblade fanart under a new pseudonym) is unique and tied to my livelihood. My only goal is to safeguard my artwork/brand, and continue creating independently. I don’t openly associate with other artists, and I have not attended conventions now in 2 years. I have no interest in gossip, tarnishing someones reputation or blacklisting anyone from events or getting in the way of their ability to work. Many of you supported & uplifted me in my last few updates. The reason why your support has been so vital is because I’ve faced harassment and hateful comments for simply sharing my new Xenoblade work under my new pseudonym. Peers, friends and ex customers have been discouraged from liking or retweeting my art as of April 2025, which is causing lasting, unnecessary and disproportionate harm to my professional relationships and efforts to rebuild myself from scratch. Now, as for why I further feel like this post has become a necessity, in 2022 and 2023, I contributed artwork to two books for an ex friend as a guest artist, with no contract granting them ongoing rights. The sales of these books has proceeded without disruption now for at least 2 years. My issue is not with the seller profiting off their own work, I simply want them to stop profiting off my work as they do not have permission to do so. What is particularly frustrating, they are someone who has shown a continuing pattern of speaking about me in a hyperbolic, negative manner. I am also doing this in an effort to avoid confusing my new community, potentially unravelling the hard work I've put in these past 7 months. In an effort to settle things peacefully and privately, I emailed the seller through official channels to stop using my work, but instead of responding to my email directly or removing my art before proceeding with sales, it’s still being sold against my wishes both online and at events like Anime Expo 2025. On top of ignoring my efforts to resolve things privately, it has now come to my attention that the seller is posting these emails which contain sensitive, personal, legal information on a private social media account with hundreds of followers (comprised of my peers and former & current customers), further inciting false accusations that I’m harassing or targeting them. I have reached out once in May 2025 with the initial request to stop profiting off my art, then once more 2 days ago with the same information. Outside of these 2 emails, and one notifying appropriate staff, there has been 0 communication on my end, yet I still face regular harassment to this day. These actions are unacceptable and harmful, especially as I tried to disengage from participating in said online space and focus on new art to eventually start selling online and in person at conventions again. As a result, I’ve contacted Anime Expo staff with evidence to resolve this quietly and will continue to take the appropriate steps necessary to reach a resolution that is satisfactory for both me and the seller. My hope is the community can keep lifting each other up and drown out the negativity with more love.
