The Labour government’s Planning and Infrastructure Bill: This includes compulsory purchase by public bodies & governments (local & national) to buy land (which includes the green belt, farmland or even allotments) at low agricultural value rather than full hope value. After purchase they can sell land to a housing developer or solar panel company at full development value. The Bill also gives compulsory purchase rights to acquire land for nature. This is not a level playing field for farmers. They will be forced to sell at low value, but the purchaser (often a local council) will be able to sell at full value. This is fundamentally wrong on many levels. It’s countryside grabbing facilitated by government for corporate gain.

@emeraldthiele @stop_lime_down FYI, it was recently announced that Macquarie, the ‘vampire kangaroo’ of Thames Water infamy, will increase its stake in Island Green Power to 100%. Fingers crossed that Ed Milliband is reshuffled out & Labour more realistic on net zero before the decision on Lime Down is made.

The Labour government serves the donor class, big corporations, military industrial complex and the Davos clique while punishing farmers, small businesses, pensioners, carers, disabled and veterans. They are the diametric opposite of the old traditions of the Labour Party.

Energy Secretary, Ed Miliband has approved a number of mass-scale solar panels on UK prime farmland despite local community objections. Solar panels shouldn’t be used on prime agricultural land. Instead, put them on brownfield land, car parks, roofs and roads.

Why are British supermarkets not covering their car parks and roof spaces in solar panels, as they do overseas, instead of desecrating the countryside? We should boycott them until they do. apple.news/AhaF_2elsSWibi…
