Honestly I’ve lost interest in Japanese music, fashion, etc. because even a decade ago, it was known sellers on Mercari and other platforms would cancel sales to shopping services. Because they didn’t want to sell to foreigners.

This is such a misrepresentation of the situation. The inaccessibility is intentional and often times hostile. You cant purchase certain things without being Japanese and often times they are actively hostile to people who utilize proxies. This is not indifference.

@katieisafraid I recently started using proxies and I'm a bit baffled Mercari has a "strict no-proxy" setting and how many sellers use it. Maybe I'm missing something but I really do not see why anybody would care where what they are selling gets shipped if they don't need to pay extra.

@toastdotmp3 i dont remember the study exactly but i thought a while back that it was established that autistic people typically arent low empathy but instead experience and process/express empathy in different ways which then leads to us getting labeled as unempathetic?
