Just this week - 3 other WSP troopers have been hurt in separate crashes on area roads. -I-90 EB near mile post 50 (Friday) -I-90 WB near mile post 75 (Thursday) -112th & Steele Street (Wednesday) It’s been an extremely tough week for the agency.

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) confirms the tragic loss of Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting #720, who was killed Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle in Tacoma.

NOW: WSP Chief Batiste says a State Trooper stationed out of Tacoma, 29-year-old Tara Guting, was struck by a driver and killed while outside her vehicle handling a collision that happened on SR509. Driver stayed on scene and was not taken into custody. @komonews
