@straystruts Yes! Our (and neighbors' dogs) ran free when they weren't in the house. Normal then. I just remembered, had a black Cocker Spaniel when I was 5±, who kept getting caught by the dog catcher. 🤦🏼‍♀️

This was the response to a silly pun that I made. It’s the first openly racist reply I’ve gotten on Bluesky. As it happens I’m actually an atheist, but my profile mentions that I was born Jewish. Bizarre seeing angry racism about bad puns. Sad too. He’s a fellow Canuck. 🤔🤷‍♂️🇨🇦

@CarolynMisha I can’t BELIEVE you don’t know Norm McDonald. One of the funniest guys ever. He was the Weekend Update host on SNL in the 90’s. Sadly, he died in 2021. Check him out on YouTube doing his first Tonight Show performance. Absolutely HILARIOUS! 😜

@straystruts I had to google Norm McDonald. Don't know yet about dachshunds ref. Fritzy was half miniature and half full size dachshund. He was a very good dog.

@CarolynMisha How times change. Can you imagine letting your dog out to walk with the mailman TODAY?! I’m not even sure if it’s OK to say mailman. It might be mail person! I try to keep up. But I figure as long as I’m TRYING not to be offensive, that’s the best I can do. Things move FAST! 🤔😵‍💫

@CarolynMisha One of our dogs was a sheltie, but I always told my friends she was a TINY collie. She was the one named Ikyu. They’re SO smart, but they can’t help trying to herd everything. The kids, other dogs, our cats…😂. She’d follow the mailman on his route through our townhouses! Pals.

@CarolynMisha …tournaments twice. Back in the 60’s nobody knew what Karate was. Except for Bruce Lee movies. My friends thought it was weird and there was always a lesson on Saturday mornings. “No Saturday morning cartoons?!” I felt like I was the unluckiest kid EVER…at the time. Great now!

@straystruts LOL! 😆 I was luckier. A cat arrived at my parents' house the month I was born. Ali Khat. (My father named him. I think Ali Khan was popular or something, combined with alley cat) I have pictures of me in a high chair or learning to walk with Ali Khat by my side. 😻🥰

@CarolynMisha My wife had never had cats growing up. When we got Milo, they got along wonderfully. At one point on the first day they started wrestling. My wife yelled to the basement that they were fighting! I RAN upstairs and laughed. “Sweetie, they’re PLAYING!” 😂

@CarolynMisha …brother, Milo (Milo & Otis), he’d be waiting for me every day at the door when I got home from work since I got home first. I’d kneel down and pick him up (remember he was still small) and spend about 5 minutes just petting him while he purred so loud it was like a lawnmower.

@straystruts She was so intelligent as well as beautiful & sweet. 8 or 9 mos old when I got her. That apt had mirrored closet doors. First time seeing a mirror. Startled!! I explained, she listened, then checked, looking behind door, paw under. Later used the mirror to sneak up on her toy! 😸

@CarolynMisha They have such distinctive personalities. Each with their own little quirks and habits. Franky can somehow get onto your lap without you noticing. You just look down and think, “When did YOU get here?!” Strangely, he also eats stuff that isn’t food. Vet said it’s not uncommon. 🤷‍♂️
