Set a goal. It’s much easier to stay motivated when you have something to work towards. This could be total workout time, increasing weight during strength training, or slightly bumping up the speed as you run. 📈

Only do what you know you’ll enjoy. If it feels like you’re dragging your feet to get to the gym on the weekends, then doing exercises you don’t like won’t help. 👏

Make it a group activity and keep each other accountable. Catch up with a friend or two, or spend some 1:1 time with your partner or family! 👯‍♀️

It seems like everyone in the group is getting the same exercises, even if they have different needs 🚩🚩🚩

The workout feels too fast paced and doesn’t give you time to check your alignment and use proper form 🚩🚩🚩

Can we stop telling people with scoliosis and spinal fusion to not be active? Especially now when we know exercise is one of the BEST things for scoliosis management.

The solution for scoliosis is not always a straight spine. It’s a strong, supported, and cared for spine. We can still aspire to do anything regardless the shape or size of our curves 💚

It can be hard sharing your scoliosis story. I cried the first time I recorded videos for my Instagram because my ribs looked so rotated on camera. That video inspired someone else to move despite their curve. Every little scoliosis share is worth it 💚 #scoliosis

If your healthcare provider is just listing out all the things you shouldn’t do with scoliosis or spinal fusion … find one that shows you things you CAN and helps you make a plan to get there.

Approximately 1 out of every 2 women over the age of 50 will fracture a bone related to osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is also a risk factor of scoliosis progression. How are you building your bone density today?

Scoliosis specific exercises can help reduce progression in adult scoliosis. We need to be more proactive than “wait and see”.

Support groups for scoliosis or spinal fusion are great, but remember: they are not a place to compare your journey. Each person’s experience with scoliosis is different. 💚

If your excuse for not exercising is “not having time” - you have the time. I challenge you to set aside even 15 minutes per day for exercise for your scoliosis. Block it in your calendar NOW. 🗓

You can do whatever you dream of with scoliosis. Don’t let anything hold you back. (Pun intended 😉)
