@robynngarfield She passed a little over a year ago. I was thinking one day not too long ago, "I wonder if she gets the chance to come and visit?" The spirit answered my thought and said, "She has never left your side."

@striplingwaror Oh she's beautiful. We had a border collie years ago, our first dog. Sadly, Indi had severe anxiety and some neurotic issues. But she was so smart and so athletic

For years, I avoided getting a doodle breed because people said they were spastic and hard to train. Then we got Jake. I can now say, after three years, doodle breeds are spastic and hard to train.

You do know that the original Hebrew manuscripts have disappeared, right? The original Hebrew manuscripts (autographs) of the Bible—meaning the first handwritten versions of the books of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament—disappeared gradually over centuries, likely not long after they were written and copied, with none surviving today. en.wikipedia.org Why and How They Were LostPerishable materials: Ancient scribes wrote on papyrus (plant-based) or animal-skin parchment. These degrade over time due to moisture, insects, handling, and environmental factors. Even well-stored scrolls typically lasted only decades to a couple of centuries under normal conditions. haaretz.com Historical destruction: Major events like the Babylonian destruction of the First Temple (586 BCE) and the Roman destruction of the Second Temple (70 CE) led to widespread loss of texts and records. Wars, fires, and intentional destructions further contributed. en.wikipedia.org Copying practices: Texts were routinely copied for preservation and distribution. Originals were not treated as sacred relics to hoard indefinitely but were used, worn out, and replaced. Scribes aimed for accuracy, but the focus was on transmission rather than preserving the physical autographs. grunge.com There is no single "disappearance date" because the books were composed over a long period (roughly 1200–400 BCE or so for most of the Hebrew Bible), and each original would have been lost independently. Scholars generally conclude that by the early centuries CE (or earlier for the oldest books), the autographs no longer existed. ehrmanblog.org What We Do Have Instead Earliest surviving copies: The Dead Sea Scrolls (discovered 1947–1956) include the oldest known Hebrew Bible fragments and manuscripts, dating from the 3rd century BCE to the 1st century CE. They cover nearly all books of the Hebrew Bible (except Esther) and show the text was already quite stable by then, though with some variations. biblicalarchaeology.org Later key manuscripts include the Aleppo Codex (~930 CE, incomplete) and the Leningrad Codex (~1008–1010 CE, the oldest complete Hebrew Bible). These are Masoretic texts, carefully standardized by Jewish scribes. biblicalarchaeology.org In short, the originals were lost to time and history long before the Common Era for the earliest books and by the early centuries CE at the latest for the later ones. Modern Bibles rely on careful reconstruction from thousands of ancient copies and fragments, with the Dead Sea Scrolls providing a major bridge to much earlier versions of the text. Scholarly consensus holds that while we lack the physical originals, the transmitted text is remarkably well-preserved.

I don’t know if I’d go so far as to say they weren’t influenced by God. I have zero doubt God inspired men to write these things and make as many copies as possible. And when the Brass Plates were taken, no doubt God inspired later prophets to re-record the record just like Moses didn’t have the original record from Adam but re-recorded it when the angel of the Lord taught it to him. This is how God works. But I do agree there were corrupted influences in the re-recordings that led to some discrepancies, which Satan has used cleverly to destroy testimonies.

SOLA SCRIPTURA is the idea that Scripture alone is the sole infallible authority for Christian faith and practice. It is usually defended with passages like: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) But that passage does not actually say Scripture is the only source God can use, nor that God can never speak again, nor that all valid authority must already exist inside a completed biblical canon. And when you step back and look at the whole of Scripture, the pattern cuts the other direction entirely. Balaam, a pagan prophet hired by Israel’s enemies, delivers genuine prophecy from God (Numbers 22–24). Jethro, Moses’ Midianite father-in-law and priest of another nation, gives wisdom that Moses adopts for governing Israel (Exodus 18:13-24). Paul quotes pagan Greek poets approvingly to communicate theological truth (Acts 17:28; 1 Corinthians 15:33; Titus 1:12). Jude directly quotes Enoch: “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these...” (Jude 1:14) The Old Testament cites outside works like the Book of Jasher (Joshua 10:13) and the Book of the Wars of the Lord (Numbers 21:14). Even more importantly: every book of Scripture was once outside the previous canon. The apostles preached Christ before the New Testament existed. The early Church functioned for generations without a finalized New Testament canon at all, relying on living apostolic authority alongside existing scripture. So the biblical model was never “God only works through an already-closed written canon.” The biblical model is that God speaks through prophets, apostles, scripture, revelation, inspired teaching, and sometimes even outsiders whom He chooses according to His purposes. Scripture is sacred. But Scripture itself does not teach Sola Scriptura.

President Trump with President Xi in Zhongnanhai: "I want to thank you very much. This has been an incredible visit. I think a lot of good has come of it. We've made some fantastic trade deals, great for both countries. He's a man I respect greatly. He's become really a fan. We've known each other now 11 years, almost 12 years, it's a long time. And we've settled a lot of different problems that other people wouldn't have been able to settle. And the relationship is a very strong one. We've really done some wonderful things, I believe. We did discuss Iran. We feel very similar in Iran. We want that to end. We don't want them to have a nuclear weapon. We want the straits open. We're closing it now. They closed it and we closed it on top of them. But we want the straits open. And we want them to get it ended because it's a crazy thing. They're a little bit crazy and it's no good, can't have it. They cannot have a nuclear weapon. But we discussed a lot of other things also and I think we're very much on a great move. We're going to have some further discussions now with the group. But I just want to thank President Xi and all of his representatives. We've become friendly with all of them, great people. And it's an honor to be here. We'll be back, I believe, on September 24th or thereabouts. And President Xi is going to be coming to the United States. And we will be reciprocal, like reciprocal trade. The visit will be reciprocal. We're going to lay it on the line and we're going to have – you're going to walk away hopefully very impressed, like I'm very impressed with China. And I just want to end by saying thank you very much. It's been really a great couple of days. Thank you very much."

1 Nephi 13:26–29 verses 24–30):24 And the angel of the Lord said unto me: Thou hast beheld that the book proceeded forth from the mouth of a Jew; and when it proceeded forth from the mouth of a Jew it contained the fulness of the gospel of the Lord, of whom the twelve apostles bear record; and they bear record according to the truth which is in the Lamb of God. 25 Wherefore, these things go forth from the Jews in purity unto the Gentiles, according to the truth which is in God. 26 And after they go forth by the hand of the twelve apostles of the Lamb, from the Jews unto the Gentiles, thou seest the formation of that great and abominable church, which is most abominable above all other churches; for behold, they have taken away from the gospel of the Lamb many parts which are plain and most precious; and also many covenants of the Lord have they taken away. 27 And all this have they done that they might pervert the right ways of the Lord, that they might blind the eyes and harden the hearts of the children of men. 28 Wherefore, thou seest that after the book hath gone forth through the hands of the great and abominable church, that there are many plain and precious things taken away from the book, which is the book of the Lamb of God. 29 And after these plain and precious things were taken away it goeth forth unto all the nations of the Gentiles; and after it goeth forth unto all the nations of the Gentiles, yea, even across the many waters which thou hast seen with the Gentiles which have gone forth out of captivity, thou seest—because of the many plain and precious things which have been taken out of the book, which were plain unto the understanding of the children of men, according to the plainness which is in the Lamb of God—because of these things which are taken away out of the gospel of the Lamb, an exceedingly great many do stumble, yea, insomuch that Satan hath great power over them. 30 Nevertheless, thou beholdest that the Gentiles who have gone forth out of captivity, and have been lifted up by the power of God above all other nations, upon the face of the land which is choice above all other lands, which is the land that the Lord God hath covenanted with thy father, that his seed should have for the land of their inheritance; wherefore, thou seest that the Lord God will not suffer that the Gentiles shall forever remain in that awful state of blindness, which thou beholdest they are in, because of the plain and most precious parts of the gospel of the Lamb which have been kept back by that abominable church, whose formation thou hast seen. churchofjesuschrist.org

It is amazing that the bible is as accurate as it is. Jesus' death (crucifixion) is traditionally dated to around 30–33 AD. The New Testament books and letters were written afterward, mostly in the mid-to-late 1st century AD (roughly 15–70+ years later). They were composed over several decades, with Paul's letters generally being the earliest and the Gospels and some later writings coming afterward. en.wikipedia.org Key Timeline (Scholarly Consensus Ranges)Dates can vary slightly by scholar (conservative ones often favor earlier ranges; critical scholars later ones), but here's a broad overview:~15–30 years after Jesus' death (mid-40s to ~60s AD): Most of Paul's authentic letters (epistles). These are the earliest New Testament writings.Galatians (~48–55 AD) 1 Thessalonians (~50–51 AD) 1–2 Corinthians (~53–56 AD) Romans (~56–58 AD) Others like Philippians, Philemon, etc. (~50s–early 60s AD) esv.org ~30–40 years after (60s–70s AD): Early Gospels and other writings.Gospel of Mark: Often ~65–70 AD (around or shortly after the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple in 70 AD). ehrmanblog.org Gospel of Luke and Acts: ~60s–80s AD (some argue earlier, before 70). Gospel of Matthew: ~70–85 AD. ~40–65+ years after (80s–100 AD): Later writings.Gospel of John: ~80–95 AD (or up to ~100). Other letters (e.g., 1–2 Peter, James, Jude, Pastorals like 1–2 Timothy/Titus): Varied, often 60s–100+ AD. Revelation: ~90–95 AD (during Domitian's reign). biblegateway.com By around 100 AD, the core New Testament writings were largely complete, though the full canon was formalized later.Context and NotesPaul's letters predate the Gospels in most views. They focus on theology, church issues, and early Christian beliefs (e.g., references to Jesus' death and resurrection) rather than full biographies. biblen3rd.com The Gospels were written in a period when eyewitnesses were aging or dying, drawing on oral traditions, earlier sources (like "Q" for some Synoptics), and community memories. Mark is widely seen as the first Gospel. hhjonline.com The entire New Testament was completed within about 60–70 years of Jesus' death—much closer in time than many ancient historical texts (e.g., compared to accounts of Alexander the Great written centuries later). There is debate on precise dates (e.g., some conservative scholars date Mark or Luke earlier, in the 50s–60s), but the broad 1st-century window is widely accepted. bethinking.org This timeline shows the New Testament emerged from the living memory of the early Christian community, with the earliest parts written while some apostles and eyewitnesses were still active.

Water for sure is the issue! The cooling for the data center itself loops, sure. 😉 I got a bridge I'd like to sell too. they are also planning to build a power plant just for the data center. That will use a lot of water in a desert that is drought prone. This smacks of grift because Utah political leaders have been pushing to use less water. Signing deals to get water into the great salt lake then this data center deal pops up to use water. This deals reeks

This Data Center controversary is interesting. I would not want one in my backyard- in my town. The noise/hum, the lights... the water thing is apparently a real issue... BUT... then what is the answer. they are inevitable. It seems logical to put them out in the west desert - the outer limits of communities as best we can??? political bullying is not helpful. Voters in those communities should have a say... but we feel so betrayed. who can you trust to tell the truth these days. what are we willing to give up to have this advanced technology that the world is rapidly embracing. Utah isn't the only place this is an issue.

Helping my grandson as he finishes up 6th grade on-line public school (soon to transfer to private school). I realized I'm not smarter than a 6th grader. For example, here are some things that I learned: 1) Genghis Kahn was actually a good guy. 2) The ever increasing human population is the cause of all the species that are threatened or endangered. 3) Western civilization was not nearly as innovative as ancient China.

September 11, 2001. 9:37 a.m. Lt. Col. Marilyn Wills was in a Pentagon conference room when American Airlines Flight 77 struck. The fireball threw her across the table. Her hair caught fire. The room went black with smoke. Crawling, she felt a hand grab her belt. "My name is Lois," a voice said. Lois Stevens, a civilian employee, injured and choking. "Stay with me. Where I go, you go." Wills pressed her Army sweater into Lois's hands. "Breathe through this." When Lois collapsed, her nylons melted to her legs, Wills lifted her onto her back and carried her. Six others followed the sound of her voice through the wreckage. They reached a sealed second-floor window. They broke it. Cool air rushed in. Wills stayed inside. "I'll go last," she said, and helped lower every person out before she fell into rescuers' arms below. Lois Stevens lived 23 more years because of that decision. Wills received the Soldier's Medal and Purple Heart for her burns, smoke inhalation, and traumatic brain injury. Thirteen days later, she returned to the Pentagon. She later deployed to Afghanistan. She never called herself a hero. "We lost so many that day," she said quietly. "They were my friends." Some leaders give orders. Others carry people through the fire. God bless Lt. Col. Marilyn Wills — and all who served on 9/11.

I have a cousin who is anti, and he asked me what the Holy Ghost feels like. I had a talk with my Father in Heaven and asked him to send his spirit in such a way that there would be no doubt about what my cousin felt. I did this in his presence. The experience was very powerful; all my cousin could say was wow. It was only about four hours later when he denied that he felt anything...............still to this day.

Today I feel sorry for those that have never experienced the powerful testimony of the Holy Ghost. I have seen so many that simply say, show me proof. Prove you are worshiping the correct Jesus, prove Joseph Smith was a prophet, show archeological proof of the Book of Mormon. Proof is not faith. If only they would exercise a particle of faith, even if all they can do is create within themselves a desire to know truth, they could feel the sweet testimony of the Holy Ghost. Until they do this, they will continue to question how we could possibly believe such a wild story that brought about The Church of Jesus Christ in these Latter Days.
