@alistairsteel @doctimcook @anesthesianews @YaleMed Brandolini’s law at play here: multiple groups (including ours 5 years ago) showing the actual science. Thanks to @doctimcook for highlighting this important issue

@doctimcook @anesthesianews @YaleMed My error - apologies.
I’ve checked the US trademark register and Optiflow was ™️ in 2006 and THRIVE ™️ in 2015, the year the study was published. Feels a bit mischievous.

@doctimcook @ProfEllenO @Assoc_Anaes @Anaes_Journal @craiglyons @dasairway Better check your acronyms! Think you need to talk to AP and SAN and get THRI!
English

@strive_hi @ProfEllenO @Assoc_Anaes @Anaes_Journal @craiglyons @dasairway Is it time you changed your name to STRI?

Winner of John Smith Award 2025 goes to @craiglyons for his RCT on HFNO . Preox versus randomised Apnoea .Face mask versus HFNO …Rate of rise CO2 in 114 pts was similar . No increased clearance therefore @dasairway

It’s been established for a while that HFNO is an excellent mode of oxygenation, but the ‘ventilatory exchange’ but does not stand up to rigorous examination
The (marketing) terms THRIVE and STRIVE should not appear in academic publications in my opinion.
It’s fine for commercial companies to try to promote their product, but the medical community should follow the evidence and not be led astray by catchy acronyms.
HFNO ✅
The other stuff ❌
Congratulations Craig

@AAOHNS I like learning about different practice internationally. Habrial et al SV TCI panendoscopy technique (starts with remi followed by prop) is opposite to how I do it. Higher failure rate, which we also found in our original paper twitter.com/intent/tweet?t…
