☀️ This Bank Holiday Monday, I wanted to share an important milestone. Since July 2024, my office has supported constituents through more than 10,000 individual cases across the Daventry Constituency. These cases have included support with housing, healthcare, immigration, benefits, local services and many other issues raised by constituents. Good to see Labour finally waking up to fit note reform. @Conservatives have long argued that too many people are being written off work when they could be supported to recover, stay independent and contribute. Once again, Labour are showing they had a plan to win power, but no plan for Government. We must Get Britain Working Again.

Labour promised the staff the NHS needs. Now reports suggest they are preparing to scale back NHS workforce growth, while relying more heavily on tech and productivity gains. If people cannot get appointments now, Ministers need to explain how fewer staff is the answer.

It was great to visit Matt’s farm in Welton and meet with Jessica and Jenny from @ArlaDairyUK, where the milk from the farm is processed. 🥛 Matt runs an impressive operation of 600 grazing cows 🐄 across 414 hectares, supplying milk through Arla to @Tesco. It was fascinating to see the innovation and technology being used in modern farming, including health-monitoring technology helping improve animal welfare. We also had valuable discussions about food security, the future of farming, and encouraging more young people to consider careers in agriculture. 🌱 A really insightful visit and a great reminder of the important role local farmers play in supporting our economy and food supply.

The Health Secretary is responsible for women’s healthcare, maternity services, breast cancer screening, female hospital wards and single-sex spaces for patients and staff. These are serious issues that shape care and safeguarding across the NHS. He should be able to define a woman without implying it is up for debate.

A big good luck to local author Lorna Marlow, whose novel Finding Home has been shortlisted in the Debut Romance Novel category at the Romantic Novel of the Year Awards 2026 📚 To be recognised nationally for a debut novel is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to her talent and hard work. I know many people locally will be wishing her every success ahead of the awards ceremony in London on 18 May. ✨Very best of luck, Lorna!

I wish James Murray well in his new role. Wes has left the NHS in a chaotic state with unfinished top-down reorganisation and strikes. And of course his questionable NHS waiting list figures! – let’s hope James’ grip on numbers has improved since he was the Government’s cheerleader for the Family Farm and Family Business Taxes...

Mental Health Awareness Week is a reminder that small actions matter. Checking in on someone, making space to talk, or asking for help can make a real difference. No one should feel they have to face things alone. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

Congratulations to @jamesmurray_ldn on his appointment as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. The challenges facing health and social care are significant, and where possible we will continue to work constructively in the interests of patients, staff and families.

Wes Streeting has resigned as Health Secretary. Let’s take a look at his record 👇

Wes Streeting made big promises on the NHS. But he leaves DHSC with strikes unresolved, questions over waiting list figures, another major NHS reorganisation and growing pressure across services. The NHS now needs stability, focus and certainty.

The Labour Party is now in civil war. Meanwhile no one is running the country.

I am sorry to see Wes Streeting leave the Department of Health and Social Care. There were times when we worked very constructively together. However, he promised grip, delivery and better industrial relations. Instead, the NHS has seen continued strike disruption, missed performance targets, another major reorganisation, and growing pressure in maternity, urgent care and social care. His letter points to waiting lists falling by 110,000, but sector reporting today raises serious questions about unreported removals. Whoever takes on the role next must bring stability, focus and certainty to the NHS.

Labour will claim today’s waiting list figures prove their NHS plan is working. But experts are already warning the improvement was driven by a record spike in “unreported removals” from waiting lists. Patients want shorter waits and better care, not NHS reshuffles while Ministers are distracted by their own.
