After an exhilarating yet incredibly busy long weekend, our team successfully completed a Cardiopulmonary transplantation followed by two consecutive Heart transplants at the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires. Congratulations to the whole team

Do we have a problem with distal aortic failure after Acute Type A repair with a hemi arch ? Yes - we sure do! #MikolajBerezowski presented our 15yr outcome data in over 500 patients. 50% of patients will have aortic death, reintervention or significant aortic dilation at 15 years. Close monitoring through follow-up imaging and potentially more extensive surgery on the arch at the initial procedure are essential to optimize survival. #aats2024 @AATSHQ #aortaed @BavariaMd @ChrisMalaisrie @KendraGrubb

This week our cardiothoracic team had the opportunity to work alongside world-renowned cardiac surgeon, Dr Tirone E. David. He pioneered the Aortic Valve Sparing Root replacement (known as David procedure) and is working with us to make the surgery accessible to our patients.
