Perry, speaking from painful personal experience, explained: “I’m a drug addict. I’m a person that if I have a drink, I can’t stop. It’s an obsession of the mind and an allergy of the body. I start thinking about alcohol, I can’t stop thinking about it.” Perry then highlighted what works, saying he knows drug courts succeed because people who go through them have a 55% less chance of ever seeing handcuffs again.
