My Take on low Engineering Salaries in Europe and why EU is still a good enough choice for many Indians who want to immigrate! You can't compare US/Indian salaries against European salaries. The standard of living and how society works in general in America/India is very much different than in Europe. For e.g: After paying 50% in taxes some positive things I received as an immigrant which I’ve to pay if I was working in India despite of paying 30% in taxes. - I get very decent healthcare if not the best. - My kid's education is totally sponsored by the government, with No toxic marks pressure etc. - He is doing swimming, horse riding, playing football etc.. with a very nominal fee and that too with good coaches! - My spouse can work here from day 1 on a dependent visa which is missing in H1B. - My spouse pursuing her master's and again it’s completely sponsored by the government! - She started working recently and making our house income more than double instantly! - Best AQI, less population, excellent driving sense in 99% of people on roads. - I can travel across Europe on a single Visa! - High trust society. - No overworking at workplaces, people respect work-life boundaries! - No need to worry about layoff as paying to unions got covered me for 11months if any day I don’t get next work assignment. - A good chunk of CTC goes to pension benefits so retirement is kind of set in India 😉 if I plan to come back today I’ll get 1 lakh INR per month pension. - The best part is - 6 week’s summer vacation 😊 Salary doesn't define you. It's not common for developers in Europe to make $100-500K annually But the system here is very much different. Comparisons need to be done carefully. To be born in Europe or America can be considered a very lucky occurrence for most people. It’s you who needs to design your lifestyle and what matters to you the most!! As mentioned in past—- if money is the only selection process then Europe is not for you! Stay in India or Go to the USA! And at last— close to India so I can fly back within 10-12 hours in case of emergency to parents or family and friends!
