@stacbats Aww bless, Your appreciation and kind words are very much appreciated. Thank you. I made these tools and continue to work on them through these disturbed and changing times, the process keeps me sane, I'm so glad people find them useful and pleasurable to use. X

@SyntaxErrorSoft Hi Paul, you should find that hi-res bitmap export already exists, see... Export >> C64 Apps >> Art Studio This exports a prg with load address of $2000 and in the same format as you suggested.

@subchrist Hi mate, can you please add to #Charpad export to hires c64 bitmap? It already has the Koala format there. That would be most awesome! ♥️It needs this data saved: Bitmap: $2000 - $3f3f Screen: $3f40 - $4327 D020: $4328 (single colour only)

@digger_c64 @3DBigBoxGames Thanks mate! nice to be appreciated. Like all great apps it was born out of necessity and obsession. The Commodore 64 just seems to have had this effect on a lot of 80's kids.

@3DBigBoxGames I used my own editor called SlixEd but it doesn’t work anymore. I would recommend CharPad from @subchrist, it’s awesome.

@rwxdesigns I like the organic looking background and the scrolling looks nice and smooth, a few enemies and a bit more "physics" and you got a game there.

@subchrist @rwxdesigns @pixelgames Thanks for the clarification :-) I ripped the levels from freezestates as a starting point for the levels in Armalyte: Ultra. So easy to do with CharPad, that even *I* worked it out :-)

Okay, so I've integrated a first revision of Level 2 into System X. Some interesting designs/ideas emerging from my head at the moment which is really good. One thing I've noted, 12 screens is far too short for a level. Needs to be a cartridge game.🤔@rwxdesigns #c64systemx 🚀

@roblevy101 @pixelgames The levels which are extracted and packaged with Charpad appear to be all less than 32 screens long. It doesn't look like anything is missing. L1(29), L2(27), L3(28), L5(30), L6(30), L8(29). Any ideas?

@subchrist I sometimes like to have multiple copies of Charpad open. I copy characters between each instance. However, I've notcied when pasting, sometimes it doesn't work and it's like it only remembers the previous copied version in the buffer? Any ideas? Should it be okay to do this?

Not been too active on "X" recently but the tinkering behind the scenes never stops, with all the big chunks done, it's like sifting through fine sand to make improvements but all our apps should be seeing updates in the coming months. Stay tuned. subchristsoftware.itch.io

@romwer Those settings have an effect when you create a tile set and add those sprites into tiles, sprite images can expand (2x, vertically and/or horizontally) into neighbouring tile cells if those cells contain sprite zero (which ideally should be kept blank).

@subchrist Regarding Sprite Pad... I never figured out what these were for... the don't seem to do anything. Designing double width or height Sprites in the editor is pretty cumbersome without seeing the result.

@digger_c64 Not currently possible no, all chars are 8x8 and adding alternatives into (the entirety of) CharPad would take forever and introduce all kinds of problems. Some kind of standalone converter is probably the way to go.

@subchrist Is it possible to import an image and convert to chars with custom size, e.g. 8x4 pixels? The idea is to switch the charset every 4 (or even 2) lines.

@rwxdesigns Not currently possible no. the closest thing we have to that is in the snapshot ripper which can read map data in any of the 8 possible orders, starting with LRTB. Not a bad idea though, will consider it further!

@subchrist Looking forward to the updates. Quick question, not sure if it is already implemented, however, is it possible to export a map/tile map and order it so that the output is stored vertically, rather than horizontally? Saves me having to write some code to re-org it.

@scaryfish Yeah but on the plus side at least he doesnt smoke crack, talk out of his arse and go around sniffing kids. Not to mention leaving 80 Billion dollars worth of military equipment and weapons with an enemy state. I don't vote him, I'm British but I can see why Americans would.

Happy New Year to any sentient beings still hanging around out there, the unloved, the unappreciated, the ignored, the exploited, especially those with a strong desire to return to the past. One love. We win in the end.

@RaistlinGP Nice, yeah some gems in there, a pity Jon's art wasn't an option at the time for Fist II, the original loader art wasn't too pretty.
