A small village named Iraq al-Amir, located on the outskirts of Amman, #Jordan, has a small stone castle called Qasr al-Abd surrounded by Olive gardens. This was built by Hyrcanus of Jerusalem, who was a Tobiad, a Jewish dynasty.

Bengali Christians in Kolkata has its own bit of unique microculture. On #GoodFriday, a unique rally is held where people chant Bengali Christian Kirtans accompanied by Khol and Kartal, commonly known as "Goja Kirtan". This procession has been taking place for the last 117 years.

This is what remains of Chingri Khal Fort. This fort was built on the Hooghly River as a first line of defence against pirates and a possible foreign aggression. The fort takes its name from a creek named "Chingri Khal"

This video shattered my heart for a number of reasons. Simply observe: 1. The man who slaps has at least 15 kg and an 8-9 inch reach advantage. 2. When the poor man is slapped, he touches his face with his left hand. It's humiliation combined with excruciating pain. 3. He then pulls his bag over his right shoulder, possibly convincing himself to walk away. Telling himself that the other guy is stronger; it is humiliating, but what can I do? I could hear his inner monologue, full of shame and powerlessness. 4. Then the taller man slaps him again. Like an animal. I swear if I were there. I'd show that taller man what the road looks like up close. I would make that man count the dust particles on the road. I swear, I would.
