My Ode to the Birkin. What kind of cow were you, my dear Before you became a bag so dear? Did your mother sing you a lullaby moo? Some sweet, slow song, just for you? Before the world decided your skin Was worth more than the life within And you, little alligator, sunning on a log Dreaming of murky water, mud and fog Did you know your leathered, ancient hide Would end up hanging from a woman's side? No one asked if you had a name They just measured your scales and filed a claim They wanted the belly, unblemished and flat To be dyed blue marine, or brick, or matte And you, dear ostrich, tall and strange Built for running, built for range Your skin they wanted dotted, rare Quill bumps prized beyond compare Did anyone once, in your short life Call you anything but future wife Of someone's arm candy, someone's flex? Reduced to texture, grain, and specks Not one of you asked to be renowned Not one of you asked to be highly gowned You wanted mud You wanted sun You wanted a childhood—only one Not a price tag, not a waiting list Not a status object on someone's wrist Not a Birkin 30, a Kelly, a prize Carried by women with hollowed-out eyes So here's to the cow, the gator, the bird Whose actual lives were never heard While somewhere, someone signs a check And flaunts this pocket death around her neck They call it luxury They call it art They talk of the stitching But never the heart They trade your pulse for a VIP line The beautiful horror of the sublime Thank you @kaverikapur for the inspiration for this poem and this song ❤️❤️❤️

Last week, I excitedly shared that this book had entered the top fifty thousand on Amazon. Little did I know it would climb into the top five thousand so quickly. 108 Quotes from the Bhagavad Gita is now #5,114 overall in the Kindle Store, and #81 in Personal Transformation, #82 in Motivational Self-Help, and #157 in Hinduism. I'm not sharing this to boast. I'm sharing it because every person who bought, read, gifted, or reviewed this book made this happen. That's not an algorithm, that's people choosing to spend time with 5,000 year old wisdom. Thank you. This is what looking for God through the arts looks like, when it stops being just a tagline and starts showing up on a chart.

No culture can justify criminal behaviour. Shame on you and everyone who is trying to justify such criminal behavior. She could have run away, she could have eloped, she could have filed a case against her family too to force her into marraige against her concent. But to pre plan and push her fiance to death off a cliff- that is the mind of a psychopath.

Appalling to hear the Indian author defending/justifying Siya Goyals criminal behaviour by some so called cultural SME rubbish theory. An oppressed or scared normal person does not commit a pre planned murder. Only a criminal mind can carry out such a heinous crime. As a society we need to get our facts right.
