❗️🌊🌐 - Tsunami waves have begun hitting Japan after a massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake. A powerful 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, triggering tsunami warnings across the Pacific. Tsunami waves are currently impacting the Kuril Islands and Kamchatka, with a reported 4-meter wave in Yelizovsky, Russia. Alerts have been issued for Russia, Japan, Guam, Hawaii, Alaska, and the entire U.S. West Coast, including Oregon, California, and Washington. Japan has ordered evacuations along its coast, with a 30 cm tsunami detected in Hokkaido. The Philippines and Indonesia are also on high alert. Significant aftershocks, including 5.5, 5.8, and 6.0-magnitude quakes, continue to shake Kamchatka. In Hawaii, heavy traffic is reported in Honolulu as thousands evacuate to higher ground, with unconfirmed reports predicting potential flooding up to 9 meters. The earthquake, the strongest in the region since 1952, has caused rapid water recession in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Bay, exposing the seabed.
