Gaza, Israel, Iran, Palestine — conflicts that once seemed distant are now written on the walls of Novi Pazar.
One might almost think that Serbia’s own crisis looks provincial by comparison — or, for some Muslims here, part of the same larger story.

Back in Novi Pazar, one of my favourite places in the Balkans.
It still has something of the old Balkan warmth and ease. Or maybe that is only the visitor’s illusion.

The news that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was expected this Thursday for a official state visit to Serbia had been known to a small circle since last week, to some people even earlier. The visit has been postponed, but the news are remarkable. Some details: ⬇️

Back then there were coalitions, parties, seats, structures. And it was hard enough.

@suedostX @DejanVukos40959 @Andric1961 @studentblokade Exactly. But the key thing is to re-establish a democratic political system, and allow voters to chose who will lead them in a free&fair race. Political alternatives will then crystalise, and I dont see Serbian voters lending their support to anyone on the extremes.

Craving for attention, the failed Serbian student movement (at least this group here) know herocially fights for Kosovo, thus alienating a part of the liberal Serbs. A losers strategy. If @studentblokade would not exist, BIA would invent them. But they do, so it doesn't.

Меморандум о Косову и Метохији. Ми, студенти Србије, окупљени у Крагујевцу, првој престоници модерне Србије и средишту српске државотворне мисли, свесни своје личне и колективне одговорности и историјског дуга према прецима и потомцима, донели смо овај Меморандум као израз јединствене воље. 1. Косово и Метохија су неотуђиви и саставни део Републике Србије Ова чињеница није само уставна категорија, већ историјски и морални императив који не подлеже преговорима о суштини. Очување уставног поретка Србије на простору Косова и Метохије темељ је опстанка српске државе и залог праведног мира у региону. 2. Косово и Метохија нису само простор они су компонента српског националног идентитета. Као град у којем је утемељена модерна српска државност, Крагујевац баштини дужност да буде чувар заветних вредности које су никле на Косову и Метохији, не само на крвљу натопљеном бојном пољу, већ и на духовном обзорју са којег нас и данас обасјавају призренске цркве, пећке припрате, бањско злато и стубови грачанских сводова. Без Косова и Метохије, наш културни и историјски код губи своје извориште и смисао. 3. Као зрео и историјски народ, свесни смо да се питање Косова и Метохије не може решавати у изолацији, већ искључиво унутар сложених токова међународне заједнице. Србија мора активно и конструктивно арађивати са свим релевантним међународним организацијама, препознајући их као незаобилазне партнере у проналажењу најадекватнијег и одрживог решења у оквиру свог Устава. Наш циљ је модел који ће, уз доследно поштовање међународног права осигурати мир, безбедност и пуну заштиту права за народ који живи на овој територији. 4. Питање Косова и Метохије тиче се сваког грађанина ове земље. Наша веза са јужном покрајином не произилази искључиво из својства држаоца пасоша Републике Србије, већ из суштинског својства чиниоца српске историје и културе. Сваки појединац, као носилац колективног сећања, има дужност да допринесе очувању ове духовне и културне баштине, која превазилази границе административних докумената. Овај Меморандим служи као подсетник да је наша борба за Косово и Метохију истовремено борба за наш образ, нашу културу и нашу будућност у породици равноправних народа света. Са овог места, из срца Шумадије, поручујемо да је очување Косова и Метохије заједнички именитељ свих наших настојања.

But unlike in 1996 or 2000, there are no strong opposition parties, no serious structure, no clear post-Vučić order. The real question is not only how he falls — but who eats whom afterwards.

@DejanVukos40959 @Andric1961 @studentblokade If you want to dislodge Vucic, you need to mobilise a wide cross-section of Serbian society, not just liberals (who are often very narcissistic and looking for a reason not to support anyone who is not 100% aligned with their world view).

Gazprom’s current campaign in Serbia recycles “Zajedno” — “Together” — the old slogan of the 1996 anti-Milošević opposition.
But Serbia in 2026 is not really together. Not politically, and not even in its feelings toward Russia.

The Trump-Putin “stolen election” narratives are cranking up and easy to see why …. Turnout 74.23% at 17:00 (vs 62.92% in 2022). That's a record for overall turnout already, and there are still big numbers waiting to vote (polls can stay open if people are queueing). This looks absolutely huge and provided the rigging fails, Orbán is on his way out. Whether he Vlad and Donny will accept it … on verra
