I asked Thune if Republicans commit to abiding by the parliamentarian’s advice on which parts of SAVE America Act are valid in reconciliation. He says it’ll be an “iterative process” à la big beautiful bill. “Obviously the parliamentarian has a role to play in that process. And in the past, we have respected it. One compromise/ reform that could end the standoff of DHS funding: ICE agents henceforth won’t wear masks in any situation where other law enforcement officers don’t wear masks, courthouses, the streets of our cites, etc. Masks are reserved for the lawless zone along the border where the cartels dominate.
