@codex_rahel @x00ge_ii63 History proves it: Han founder Liu Bang had deep Southern roots, and Sun Yat-sen—the icon of Han nationalism—was a Cantonese Han. As Southerners, we didn't just join the Han identity; we defined and led it. Being Cantonese and Han are two sides of the same coin.

@suhe7068 @x00ge_ii63 Also I identify as baiyue because “han” simply does not adequately describe me

han chinese nationalists are hilarious ppl
🙏THUG🙏@ANIDEEZY
this is killing me, is the beef between the Chinese & Japanese really this strong? Bro said fuck crying about interracial relationships, we got a real war to focus on
English

@codex_rahel @x00ge_ii63 I'm a Cantonese Han like you, but "Baiyue" is a regional concept, not a monolithic ethnicity. The Han is a melting pot where Baiyue are "original shareholders." We aren't just assimilated; we are a core part of the Han. Genetic data confirms our deep paternal consistency.
English

@codex_rahel @x00ge_ii63 Regional differences (like dialects/looks) stem from maternal assimilation of groups like the Baiyue, but the core paternal lineage remains unified. The Han are a massive, genetically close-knit family, with far more similarities than differences.
English

@suhe7068 @x00ge_ii63 It exists as a political classification and a civilizational concept but the differences between the Han subgroups outweigh the similarities (besides superficial correlates that can be used to materially bind different peoples to each other)
English

@codex_rahel @x00ge_ii63 Actually, genetic divergence within the Han is remarkably small. Y-chromosome studies show high paternal uniformity across all regions. Unlike the highly heterogeneous Mongols or Turks, the Han are a cohesive biological reality, not just a civilization concept.
English

@x00ge_ii63 Real han nationalists dislike manchus and miscellaneous northern nomad ethnicities before they lay a finger on japanese

@x00ge_ii63 I’m curious why Japanese and Korean people really like green-eyed monster-themed works. I’m Chinese, and such content isn’t mainstream in China.

@HistorianZhang Ming maritime prohibitions were "managerial" and consistent with tradition; whereas the Qing "evacuation and ban" was "destructive" and truly "closed-door." They differ vastly in nature and consequence, and should not be conflated.
English

Would've been so cool if the Ming didn't ban seafaring and instead kept it up

Somalis in the Ming imperial court 📜 1402–1424: During the reign of the Yongle Emperor , 16 envoys from the Somali kingdom (“Sù má lǐ ér guó”—literally, “Kingdom of Somalia.”) arrived at the Ming court. The text proceeds to describe the land and a myth about a White Tiger.

The two fastest poverty reductions in recorded history were the USSR (feudal agrarian economy to industrial superpower in 30 years) and China (800 million people lifted out of poverty under the CPC). Remove China from that graph and the line barely moves. You’re crediting capitalism for what communists actually did.
English

@ErikKaiser @ivan_munro2222 I’m Chinese. These communists always try to present China as a communist country, because without China, they wouldn’t have any country to boast about. But in reality, China has been capitalist since the time of Deng Xiaoping.
English

@ivan_munro2222 There is no communism in China. It's one of the most capitalist countries there is.
English

@ivan_munro2222 Oh, well, 99% of that can be attributed to Deng Xiaoping’s capitalist policies, which even led to his imprisonment.
English

@suhe7068 @zagrebbi Just because you're Chinese it doesn't make you an authority on post war China and how you can say you or the ROC would have done better.

We give authoritarianism too much credit for China’s success.
English

@OrlovProvince @zagrebbi Let's get straight to the point. Are you a communist or a sympathizer? If yes, there's no point in continuing. Communists prioritize ideology over facts and refuse to face reality. Discussing anything with such people is worthless.
