My annual post of ‘Common Sense' Proofs of Our Lord’s Resurrection: a) No body was ever found although both the Jews and the Romans had every motive to produce the body publicly to discredit Christianity in its infancy; b) The Apostles preached a physical Resurrection from the dead, not a spiritual one; c) The willingness of the Apostles and early Christians to embrace martyrdom—who willingly dies for a lie? d) The Resurrection story was never retracted, even under torture and threat of death; e) Myths develop over generations. There are no parallels in human history of myths developing and being believed in the presence of witnesses (many of whom were hostile to Jesus) and within the short time-frame in which the New Testament was formed; f) Given the story and strong Jewish antipathy toward myths and legends, there is no cultural way that the Jews would have developed the Resurrection story or a mythical Jesus. No other culture in history has more opposed mythical confusing of divinity with humanity than the Jews; g) The first witnesses of the Resurrection were women, whose inferior status of the time, rendered any testimony as not admissible in a court of law. If the Resurrection story was manufactured, the originators would have placed men as the 'witnesses', not women. (The first witnesses, were the Roman soldiers, sixteen of them standing guard over the sepulcher, but none offered 'witness' to what they experienced. Moreover, given the code of the Roman military and its harsh enforcement among the ranks, it was unthinkable that Roman soldiers charged with such a sensitive assignment of importance, would have abandoned their post without sufficient reason); h) Conversion of the Jews: who had to break with their notion of a military deliverer, and instead embrace a hung criminal; they had to abandon their deeply engraved understanding of monotheism to worship Jesus as God’s Son; and their willingness to change their worship from Saturday to Sunday, the day of the Lord’s Resurrection.

The Aramaic Wire ܣܘܪܝܐ
An Assyrian boy in Iraq singing a rare Aramaic hymn called “O’ Gannana”. It translates to “O Gardener”, recounting the story of Mary Magdalene encountering the empty tomb. She thought He was the Gardener, before realizing He Lives. We must rescue this dying language.

The Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary are prayed throughout the Easter Octave. May the praying of these mysteries united to the prayers of the Virgin Mary bring us closer to our Risen Lord Jesus 1. The Resurrection Lord Jesus, You rose from the dead in glory, conquering sin and death. Fill my heart with the joy of Your victory and the hope of eternal life. May I live as one who has already risen with You.

Please pray for the soul of the GREAT Italian Catholic journalist Vittorio Messori who died on Good Friday. He co-authored The Ratzinger Report (1985 interview) and co-authored Pope John Paul II’s Crossing the Threshold of Hope. He was one of the few who dared offer open criticism of Pope Francis.

The Regina Coeli is the Eastertide anthem of the Blessed Virgin Mary, prescribed for recitation from Compline of Holy Saturday until Afternoon Prayer of the Saturday after Pentecost inclusively. Substitute this prayer for the Angelus during the Easter season.

The Octave of Easter is an eight-day liturgical celebration that prolongs the joy of Easter Sunday, the Resurrection of Christ. It lasts from Easter Sunday through the Second Sunday of Easter, also called Divine Mercy Sunday. Octave means eight days, including the feast itself, treating each day as a little Easter or solemnity of the Lord. Every day within the octave ranks as a high-level solemnity, with focused Resurrection readings and the repeated Alleluia cry of victory over sin and death. It begins Eastertide, the 50-day Easter season ending at Pentecost, and emphasizes new life in Christ, like a new creation or great Sunday. The octave overrides other feasts, keeping full attention on the Resurrection of Our Lord. This structure allows the Church to savor the mystery gradually rather than limiting it to one day.
