Interesting twist. If it was an ACL tear it would be a clear surgical plan and no second opinion. It’s not uncommon to see some benign evidence of a sprain on MRI even in uninjured athletes. So honestly I think it’s too early to say how bad this is or isn’t. Could be a totally incidental mri finding. This is where the history and physical exam are so important

Cody Ponce’s diagnosis right now is a right ACL sprain. More doctors are reviewing the MRI now to see if there’s a full tear for the final diagnosis. Schneider says the #BlueJays are “holding onto” hope he can pitch again this year, but will miss significant time regardless.
