South African scientists were right about the mildness of the omicron COVID variant. All UK restrictions should be lifted and we must not follow the same reaction path again. Fear, propaganda and shutdowns are not a strategy for a virus that is endemic. telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/01/0…

@AllisonPearson There've been 11,010,286 covid cases - mainly delta - recorded in the UK since it all began, and 612,615 "hospitalisations". That's one in 18 cases in hospital. With omicron there've been 10,017 cases so far and 11 hospitalisations. That's one in 911 cases in hospital!

@TVKev @AllisonPearson @BBC @SkyNews Again our expert journalists are asking the government and its experts to explain why it is not doing more restrictions instead of asking them to justify existing restrictions with facts as opposed to guesses.

@AllisonPearson Mr Witty forgot to mention the huge increase in testing which goes alongside the increase in cases. Also forgot to mention the death rate continuing to drop, as it has since early November.

Booster jabs are overwhelmingly more important for over 50s & the clinically vulnerable. If an unstoppable ‘tidal wave’ is indeed coming, we should surely focus on those who most need protecting? Cancelling routine medical care to boost an 18y old is disproportionate & harmful.

More than 450 people a day die of cancer and this government has prioritised a jab as one person dies ‘with’ omicron. WTF

📢 An inconvenient truth - vaccine passports don't work Celebrities don’t speak for the rest of us when they tell us that vaccine passports are not "inconvenient". We know that they are also illiberal and ineffective. ✍️ My latest substack lauradodsworth.substack.com/p/an-inconveni…

Just remember, SAGE have been proven wrong EVERYTIME. Yet their apocalyptic models are being parroted as truth by every media outlet. Scandalous

It is criminally irresponsible to fearmonger about the mild Omicron variant. Millions of cases which don’t harm people are called A Cold. Meanwhile, more Stage 4 cancer cases come forward. Death certain. Because of the last round of Fear. Just Stop It.

This is utterly irresponsible. That “could” is doing an awful lot of work. Bear in mind lockdown and restrictions will easily end up having killed 120,000. Cancer, heart, excess deaths in the home. No “could” about that.

What a night at Old Trafford. You get the feeling United are winging it big time but to come back from 2 down with a Ronaldo winner what’s not to like? The ground was absolutely bouncing at the end.
