An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect from 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday through 8:00 p.m. on Sunday for Joshua Tree National Park. During this time, afternoon high temperatures may range from 103 to 108 degrees. 🥵 Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. It is important to recognize the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and take precautions to protect yourself and others. ⚠️ Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing whenever possible and drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day. Now through Saturday, April 18, the County Library is teaming up with In-N-Out Burger for its annual Cover to Cover Reading Program, encouraging children across the county to dive into books and earn a free hamburger or cheeseburger as a tasty reward. 🌴 🍔 Open to children ages 4 to 12, the program invites young readers to read five books or 300 minutes to earn a Cover-to-Cover Club Achievement Award, redeemable for a free hamburger or cheeseburger at participating In-N-Out locations. The San Bernardino County Transitional Assistance Department is partnering with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide free tax preparation and e-filing services to eligible low- to moderate-income taxpayers throughout the county. The VITA/Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) program provides free services to eligible individuals and families whose combined household earned income was less than $69,000 in 2025. If you worked in 2025, you may be eligible to receive the: ✅ California Earned Income Tax Credit, for a refund of up to $3,756. ✅ Federal Earned Income Tax Credit, for a refund of up to $8,046. San Bernardino County youth can apply for the SPARK Youth Employment Program beginning March 16 at 6 p.m. The program offers paid work experience for county residents ages 16 to 24, along with hands-on learning, mentorship and career exploration opportunities designed to help youth and young adults gain practical skills and prepare for future employment. 🤝 Participants will have access to professional development trainings and gain real-world experience in county departments with job placements beginning in June. Positions are limited, and only the first 800 applications will be accepted.
