To My Black American Sisters, I’m reaching out to you with a heart that aches, filled with gratitude and deep sorrow. In the face of an outcome that feels like a betrayal, I want to say what I know can never be said enough: I am so sorry. You deserved better. You did the work, showed up, and led with strength and resilience. You carried not only yourselves but a country that too often doesn’t recognize your worth, a country that still turns away when you need it most. This election is a harsh reminder of how far we still have to go, and yet, no matter how many times you’ve been asked to show up, to keep fighting, to sacrifice, you continue to do so. I see that. I see the burdens you bear, and I am endlessly grateful. There is a fierce grace in how you love this country and its promise, even when it does not love you back. You are the backbone, the wisdom, the voice of reason and justice that so many look to, and still, you are so often met with silence and disregard. There’s no denying the ugliness in some who, despite all your efforts, chose misogyny, hate, and fear over justice and progress. They burned down what you worked tirelessly to build, dismissed what you carried with courage, and ignored the love you poured into this land. It is maddening and heartbreaking to see it happen again and again after all you’ve done. Please know that those who truly understand and see you feel the pain of this betrayal alongside you. I promise to stand with you, to continue listening, and to speak out against the injustice that, yet again, tries to wear you down. I promise to honor your work, amplify your voices, and acknowledge the sacrifices you continue to make every single day. You shouldn’t have to keep doing this alone, and though I know words alone cannot lessen the weight, I hope you feel the love and respect you have so rightfully earned. Be clear, Trump’s win is a sign of voter realignment it's a sign of voter apathy. Trump didn't have to convert voters, just hold on to his base. This result is an indictment on MAGA and the 10 million + Biden voters who saw the most racist and sexist campaign, ignored the economists who warned about Trump’s plans wrecking the economy and still stayed home.
