🚨 the Artemis II crew is on their way to the Moon.. they've conquered gravity, orbital mechanics, and the physics of deep space travel.. they're 240,000 miles from Earth hurtling through space at 24,000 miles per hour..
and they had to call IT support for Outlook..
let me give you some context.. in 1969, NASA engineers calculated the Apollo 11 trajectory to the Moon using slide rules and early computers barely more powerful than a calculator.. no AI.. no cloud.. no tech support hotline.. they navigated to a moving target 240,000 miles away and landed within the target zone on the first try..
in 2026, we have AI that writes code, rockets that land themselves, and computers more powerful than the entire Apollo program combined..
and Microsoft Outlook is still broken..
a company worth trillions.. 220,000 employees.. software running inside every government, every military, every boardroom on earth.. and the astronauts leaving the planet still had to ask someone to restart their email..
we solved the physics of leaving Earth..
we still haven't fixed the calendar invite that sends you four notifications for the same meeting.

The problem with Enterprise was UPN Fatigue. It was a trashier version of FOX. Voyager never fit, and underperformed compared to DS9 as a result. Enterprise simply inherited the maladies attendant to a dying network.
Indeed, UPN was bodybagged within a year of its cancelation.

@BlackDumpling was hoping he'd be a long term jellico-like figure and the entire show would've expanded on the personality conflicts teased in chain of command, where he wasn't evil but just a competent asshole that over time would come to better terms with his crew

STAR TREK: The great tragedy of Discovery is knowing that this single character could've carried the entire show through several seasons at least.
If he were an "evil" Picard but extraordinarily sly about it, where the audience knew he was a malevolent actor but the crew being wholly unawares.
And that going on for years as we watch his schemes unfold and see that he's both ruthlessly competent but fiercely devoted to humanity. A kind of In the Pale Moonlight as a series long arc.
It'd be difficult to pull off and it's clear none of the Discovery writers had the chops... but I'm telling you a seed was there.
