Barbara Bleiman 🎓 Education is Conversation
This is very serious stuff. What are DfE civil servants doing monitoring the social media (and other) activity of education professionals? On whose orders? On what basis? Who has decided who should be monitored? What are they doing with the info? 1/theguardian.com/education/2023…

@DrRLofthouse Do you need to be a teaching expert to be concerned that whilst schools are falling down with no money for repairs and recruitment and retention are in crisis, DfE officials are focusing on Twitter? Who is paying for this?

It will take more than an increased police presence to keep young women and girls safe. London's knife crime strategy must be fully integrated with the strategy to end men's violence against women & girls. We need change. Our thoughts are with those who loved Elianne Andam, 15.

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan@MayorofLondon

Elianne Andam had her whole life ahead of her—the community in Croydon has been devastated by her death. This morning I spoke to police officers and community leaders in the area and want to reassure Londoners that there is an increased police presence. @BBCRadio4

@UhmitsMissB A heated airer in combination with a dehumidifier. Dries washing in no time (and stops damp developing inside rooms too).

Anyone else find this a really awkward time of year for drying clothes? The tumble dryer shrinks everything, it’s too wet to put anything on the line, but it’s not cold enough to have the heating on…

Bullying behaviours can perpetuate, this is why it is not uncommon for the bullied to become bullies. Our public officials must be held to account and express impeccable behaviour, to demonstrate appropriate standards. #Williamson should resign. theguardian.com/politics/2023/…

A BBC investigation has found that at least five women have died after family courts allowed fathers accused of abuse to apply for contact with their children. Some took their own lives, and one had a heart attack outside a court. Dr Elizabeth Dalgarno discusses with @BBCNuala

There is what might be described as an unfortunate side effect to the Bank of England’s policy of raising interest rates. It is that the UK’s main High Street banks might be paid £18 billion this year for sitting on money that the government quite literally gave them. A thread….

Communities require local ITT provision. So students can train who cannot afford to relocate & for teachers who truly know their community & students.

@_JoelAshton Is it too late to plant seeds to aid wildflower growth? So far in my (long) grass I have forget me nots, buttercups and bee orchids but hoping for more variety. Would they germinate if sprinkled into grass areas?

For those of you who have ventured for the first time into #NoMowMay, hats off to you. However, don’t cut yet - the best is yet to come! So many of our #wildflowers are still to flower. More importantly, our grass loving #butterflies are yet to emerge as we head into June and July. (1/8 of our British species rely on grasses as a larval food plant). 🦋🐝 It’s therefore vital that you don’t cut ALL your longer grass areas. These will house so much life at the moment and will provide shelter and food for a myriad of insects and other animals.🦇🦊 So let’s continue the trend of a #NoMowSummer and just watch how much more life appears in your #garden as a result. Thank you to you all for helping our precious #wildlife 🙏🌱🐝

@_JoelAshton And please don’t cut grass with orchids in until you can see the seed pods are ripe and dry (and open). You are told that the end of July is ok, yet I have seen half ripe orchids mown in swathes before they can distribute their seed.
