@HarshSharm111 @Dank_jetha Its been a case with every Hindu temples,my locality temple is filled with sewage strains and pigeon poop,but the mosque is neat and air conditioned,I think this issue is mostly with north indian temples, meanwhile temples in my native place Udupi tells a different story.

I was watching this lovely documentary (link in ALT) on the Zeliangrong Nagas filmed in the early 2000s in Dima Hasao, Assam. [Zeliangrong = Zeme + Liangmai + Rongmei + Inpui] Zeliangrongs were among the last in the region to start converting to Christianity. Headed by their political leader, Rani Gaidinliu, who started the Heraka faith, the community resisted both British & Christian missionaries for long. I see many Indians throwing words like r!cebag casually. The documentary shows how even the most ardent supporters of Heraka faith were forced to send their kids to a convent BECAUSE the public schools were non-functional - the outreach by Delhi was abysmal & non-existent. Can you really blame all the people? Most domestic travellers nowadays just think about viral reels and content. Not many are curious about learning about cultures & reviving them. The British & missionaries were good at outreach & succeeded. Indian govts. partially succeeded in Arunachal Pradesh, but eventually lost momentum. Outreach, amenities & restoring native culture sans foreign religion should be the best approach.
