Barriers to neurodivergent children & young people accessing support includes disjointed support pathways & communication between service providers; lack of staff training &/or confidence; risks or negative effects from transitioning between services; under-funding of services
POST (UK Parliament)@POST_UK

Some evidence suggests neurodivergent conditions, such as autism, are being identified more in the UK. Our new POSTnote considers support for neurodivergent children and young people in healthcare and education in England, and barriers to accessing support:post.parliament.uk/research-brief…

I really enjoyed talking with Jules and Harry at Autistic Radio last week about my experiences of behavioural approaches and engaging with behaviour analysts - you can listen to the podcast here: podbean.com/media/share/pb…

@laurene_fontan I haven't been using Titter/X much recently either. I have used LinkedIn, but very sporadically! There are a few autism research groups on Facebook specifically for autistic people - I'll send you a link in a message

A #research student @TizardCentre is completing online interviews exploring how #autistic adults (self-identified & diagnosed) experience being "in the zone" or "flow states". Interviews take up to 1 hour. For more info or to take part part email Carissa: clp62@kent.ac.uk.

1. #Passion. I worked really hard to get myself into a job I feel really passionate about, which includes my key interests - before I worked in #Neurodiversity and #trauma I had way less enjoyment in my job and often felt lost or bored.

#MySLTday there was a "Neurodiversity Questionnaire" sent around to staff today to "capture staff experience of #Neurodiversity in the #workplace". As a member of the team with #ADHD I think I'll share some of my experiences (good and bad) of being in a primarily NT team...

@rachelmtrimmer The psychiatrist I saw in fall 2022 told me point blank that ‘adult women can’t have adhd’, and that we’re all just ‘hysterical from childhood trauma’. Dr. Stein, Hopewell Solutions. Glastonbury CT. This fella. He also had his bare dirty feet on his desk the entire appt.

Today is Autism Acceptance Day! Usually, I post about the importance of listening to autistic people and creating accessible, enabling environments every day. This year, I thought I'd share some news... I've been accepted to present a poster about my research at the INSAR conf!

Being #neurodivergent has many benefits to conducting research, such as intense attention (for things that interest me!), attention to detail, a strong sense of justice, and a desire to improve the world for other neurodivergent people.
