@iowatech80 @Rainmaker1973 You can use a very high F-stop lens to get the whole scene in focus. And of course, you record at high frame rate and play it back slower.

@Rainmaker1973 Can this be used in reverse to make miniature sets seem more real? Is that how they do that?

When the lens of a camera tilts so that it is no longer parallel to the camera's image sensor, it shifts the plane of focus and alters the depth of field. These are tilt shift views of real life scenes. [📹 Daniel Keintjem / dk.jooo] twitter.com/i/status/17782…

@Rainmaker1973 Well, the first step is the general logarithm formula, that can be written as b^a = exp(a*ln(b)) So we're evaluating i*ln(i). But what is ln(i)? We can turn around the c=ln(i) into exp(c)=i. That's where we use the Euler's formula to find ln(i)=1/2Pi*i cf @Marco_Piani

This is one of the most captivating equations in mathematics. The so called Euler's formula also tells us that iⁱ is a real number. To prove it, you just need to consider that eⁱˣ = cosx + i sinx and solve it for x = 𝜋/2.

Military briefing: the Israeli bombs raining on Gaza ft.com/content/7b407c… via @ft Comments have not been enabled for this article... But honestly, dropping 2000lb bomb in Gaza, so densely populated, and killing 43 people, that's a miracle!

In the past, people exposed themselves to harmful levels of radiation by using uranium glass, pieces capable of glowing under blacklight. A mosaic found in the Gulf of Naples, Italy, indicates that this type of material was already used since ancient times. The presence of uranium imparts a green or yellowish tint to the glass, and under blacklight, it makes it glow.

@Rainmaker1973 The one-word-at-a-time subtitles are terrible. Can't wait to see cameras with 3:29 aspect ratio being used in portrait mode - then it's going to be one-letter-at-a-time subtitles :-xD

@JeremyKinman @Rainmaker1973 Not deadly at all. Maybe if someone drops a quart of mercury on you... Surprisingly, it's hard to find LD_50 of mercury metal. You'll find all mercury salts and organic compounds, but not the bare metal. I bet it's safer than table salt (in grams per kg body weight)! Short term.

@Rainmaker1973 But why the droplets cause bursts of light? One might argue that it has to do with dissolved oxygen or something. In reality, the light is already there (under water), just cannot escape during total internal reflection (epod.usra.edu/blog/2014/06/s…) - until the surface's disturbed...
