@CTVNews I don't understand half the comments here (probably bots anyway), but while the story is short and full of hearsay, I'm inclined to believe an Indigenous woman over a big franchise like the Blackhawks.

Last week we had 4 SUN team members visiting for meetings in Nunavut, and continuing through this week. Winter is an important time for working with northern research partners and planning ahead for the months to come.

Alexis Polidoro (@MelaPolidoro PhD student @McMasterSEES) and Jade Owen (@NUArcticCollege) led the first demo of the Isirvik research portal @ArcticNet on Monday. They’re running another workshop with Peter Pulsifer (@CarletonDGES) this afternoon in Iqaluit.

We had a great few days at our first SUNTeam methodology workshop! Thanks to @FiveOaksCentre for the great food and space, and to GROWE Outdoor School for teaching about edible and medicinal forest plants. A great start to Fall term, helping us reconnect, reflect & plan.

@drkimcase I was going to refine my comps reading list this week to send to my supervisor, but COVID hit me a couple days ago so now I'm doing less than nothing

@DannyAnth Referring to your previous tweet, it can also be good to go somewhere private to write and reflect on your notes, even if you plan on sharing them later.

To clarify, being open in ethnography is ideal, but if, for example, you are learning about how someone lies cheats and demeans their workers, there are grounds for keeping one's notes private and anonymized rather than have them sanitized.

Mentioned old ethnographic technique to PhD student. Have a poor stomach requiring you to go frequently to the toilet so you can record notes before you forget them. She reported back that this has been extremely useful advice.

@Ziggy_n_Flower @CTVNews Shooting a bear in that situation would be a last resort. First Nations' concerns are about hunting, not defense. Just listened to an Indigenous bear guide talk on Sunday.

I've been at #ASM2022 since Sunday. What a whirlwind of information, people, science, and culture. Currently at the Ocean Decade Initiative plenary with Dr. Paul Snelgrove talking about some of the technologies and their advancements. @ArcticNet @straightupnorth
