the 2019 Nationals and 2022 Phillies were both around a .400 winning percentage through their first 40 games, yet they still made it to the WS. since trea had 2019 and bryce had 2022, it’s interesting how that might affect how they handle a rough start this season

a few days ago, i was watching a video and suddenly realized that trea ranked second among all MLB position players in fWAR from 2020–2022, behind only judge. even though i already knew he was a great player, that number still really surprised me. just like he said himself

this is exactly why the baseball season is 162 games long, because everyone knows that whether a player looks great or terrible through the first 30-something games doesn’t really mean much
