Summer 2021 Covid restrictions were lifted already. And the Lakers Heat series was a prime example of how much different times of the year affect ratings. Covid was still in full force, which should’ve theoretically helped ratings since there wasn’t much else to do. And Lakers and Heat are big markets, with LeBron James playing in the series. The fact that Finals was the least viewed ever was solely because it was played in October.

TV ratings are far worse in July than June. Bucks Suns was the 4th lowest viewed Finals ever, which surely wouldn’t have been the case had those Finals been in June. I loved it, though. The summer time vibes were awesome. Deer district was popping in the 2nd round, and it probably would’ve been cold as shit any other year lol.
