Excited to see our paper is out. Many thanks to ⁦@SjorsScheres⁩ ⁦@MichelGoed⁩ ⁦and team. Finishing the last challenging pieces of the puzzle provides us overarching perspectives on tauopathy codes which are made of misfolded tau proteins. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Co-pathology of #AD and #CTE in a #PART case gave us a chance to capture a mysterious binding site of PET ligand #flortaucipir in #CTE tau fibrils. The second binding type of ligand+amyloids, different from APN1607+#AD tau. Many thanks to @SjorsScheres and @MichelGoed as alwasys.

Years of efforts have been exerted in looking for #flortaucipir in #AD tau by cryo-EM. No convinced signal has been found so far, which is probably caused by low occupancy binding and high background in control.

Fei (my PHD supervisor) and colleagues developed the ELI trifocal microscope, by setting up an electron (E) beam, a light (L) beam and an ion (I) beam at the same focal point to achieve accurate and efficient preparation of a target cryo-lamella.🤩👍biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
