More teachers need to take this approach. It’s insane how many artists don’t ask “why” before they make things. The why is WHY we make things. Having a strong reason means you don’t need to force yourself to show up.

something that rewired my brain that I try to teach students is "what are you drawing for". Character illustration is only one of many disciplines. I think splash art has an understandably impressive reputation but imo if you don't absolutely love it then don't feel pressured to

@sylessae mental health books/media w/ artists in mind. As a creative, being confident in your own work is so attractive and is almost magnetic, where it inspires other creatives to be hyped about their own work aswell. I just wish there was more like that.
