On this day 87 years ago, the Syracuse Fire Department lost Acting Chief Thomas Dugan, Lt. Albert Young, Lt. Raymond Bauder, Lt. David Lavine, FF Frank Kerlin, FF Gregory Dixon, FF James Diamond, and FF John Agan were killed in a building collapse. #syracusefire

On this day 58 years ago, Lieutenant James McSweeney died in the line of duty. Lt. McSweeney of Truck 4 died after working at a vacant house fire at 1550 E. Genesee Street. #syracusefire

On this day 27 years ago, Firefighter James McGroarty lost his life in the line of duty. A tragic accident occurred while he was investigating a fire at 701-703 N. McBride St. #SyracuseFire

On this day 82 years ago, FF George Neat died in the line of duty. FF Neat suffered a heart attack brought on by overexertion and smoke while operating a structure fire at the five-story Hartson Apartment Building at West Onondaga and Seymour Streets. #syracusefire

On this day 55 years ago, Firefighter Michael Ludwig died in the line of duty. FF Ludwig of Truck 6 died when an aerial boom collapsed at a three-alarm fire. #syracusefire

On this day 65 years ago, Lieutenant Albert Schrempf died in the line of duty. Lt. Schrempf, a member of Truck 1, died of a heart attack induced by smoke inhalation while working at a fire at 108 Lincoln Ave. #syracusefire

On this day, 75 years ago, Lieutenant William Egan died in the line of duty. Lt. Egan and another firefighter from Truck 2 were working to ventilate the roof of 208-216 W Genesee St. when the roof gave way, and Lt. Egan fell into the burning building. #syracusefire

On this day, 129 years ago, Firefighter James Murphy of Hook and Ladder No. 1 tragically lost his life in the line of duty. He was involved in a collision while responding to an alarm. #SyracuseFire

On this day, 71 years ago, Firefighter William Cadier died in the line of duty. FF Cadier was assigned to Engine 11, and at 64 years old, he was the oldest Syracuse firefighter. He died of a heart attack while working at a fire scene. #syracusefire

Today, we remember Firefighter Michael Rogers of Chemical Co. No. 1, who died 138 years ago while serving the Syracuse Fire Department. He was tragically injured when a horse collar became unhooked, and he was pulled from his seat. #SyracuseFire

On this day 51 years ago, Captain James DiGenova died in the line of duty. Capt. DiGenova of Engine 2 was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital for chest pains following a fire at 104 Ballard Ave earlier in the month. #syracusefire

On this day 89 years ago, Captain Martin Dwyer died in the line of duty. Captain Dwyer suffered a heart attack brought on by smoke inhalation and exertion while working at a fire at the Burnet Park barn. #syracusefire

On this day in 1841, a devastating fire erupted at a carpenter's shop on the Oswego Canal, leading to a deadly explosion. Tragically, 30 lives were lost, including Syracuse firefighters Hugh T. Gibson, Joel Kohlhammer, and Ezra M. Hough. #syracusefire

July 13, 1898, while returning from a two-alarm fire at Zett's Brewery at the corner of Court and Lodi streets, FF Frank Yann was thrown from Hook and Ladder No. 2. He passed from his injuries 127 years ago today, on July 15, 1898. #syracusefire

66 years ago, we lost Firefighter Enrico Vendetti of Engine 6 and Lt. Robert McCarthy of Engine 7 in the line of duty. Their engines collided while responding to a fire at 608 S. Townsend St. #SyracuseFire

On this day 36 years ago, Captain Norman Rowe died in the line of duty. Captain Rowe of Truck 2 died of a heart attack while operating a structure fire at 1412 N Salina Street. #syracusefire
