Western Muslims really need to pull ourselves together. Islam actively promotes the highest possible echelons of health - we’re ordered to fast, eat healthy, stay physically active, avoid alcohol and drugs, abstain from gluttony Islam actively promotes seeking the highest possible echelons of intellect and knowledge Islam actively promotes trying to change the world for the better as individuals We are given an instruction manual for life via the creator Himself. A cheat code. And in the West we have all the tools required to follow this guidebook. Yet we still fall short in each facet as a collective We are lapped in terms of physical health; lapped in terms of intellect and education; lapped in terms of social, economical, and political power. These are statistical facts. It’s all good and well crying about corrupt leaders and genocide, but how many of you are actually trying to be warriors in this fight you preach about. How many of you are truly excellent in every facet. How many of you are in top shape? How many of you are in the top 10% of intellect? How many of you have financial and social power? How many of you can even string a compelling, cohesive sentence together for the masses? It’s short and few. The fight starts internally. Each and every one of us is a representation of the Ummah and thus a representation of God Himself. Let’s hold each other to higher standards and represent the Lord in a manner befitting to Him. If you want to change the world, it starts by changing yourself, then those around you, then your community - that’s how you change the world, but it starts by changing yourself.
