A tax paying resident of Lagos can run for political office, hold political appointments, own properties, and live freely in Lagos and will be considered a Lagosian. i.e., Honourable Atta, Joe Igbokwe, Aliko Dangote, Tony Elumelu, Don Jazzy, Hon James Faleke, Hon Folajimi Lai Mohammed and more. As non-indigenes, they can not be appointed as traditional rulers or hold claims to any ancestral rights with privileges.

State of Origin system says NO. No, you're not a Lagosian simply because you've lived all your life in Lagos. Your parents (father) must be related to a state by patrilineal bloodline before you can claim that state.

Living in Lagos does not automatically make you a citizen. It simply makes you a resident. Lagos is open and accommodating, yes, but residency and identity are not the same thing.
