President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed Major General Anne-Marie Nainda as Acting Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force, with immediate effect. Nainda will serve in an acting capacity for one year, taking over from Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo. Shikongo was appointed Inspector General by the late President Hage Geingob in August 2022. Over the weekend, Shikongo informed NBC News that he would accept any decision by his appointing authority. His reaction came after a naked man was allegedly found in the President's private residence at State House. Neither Shikongo nor the presidency has confirmed this or divulged the reasons for Shikongo's removal. Lieutenant General Shikongo's term was extended by another three years in 2024 by former president Nangolo Mbumba, when he reached retirement age. He had been expected to leave office at the end of next year. Emil Xamro Seibeb #NBCNews #nbcdigitalnews #nbcDSTV282 #nbcGOtv20 #nbcPlusApp
