Focusing on one aspect of security and ignoring others is at best a blind spot, and worst, fosters a false sense of security that may catch up to you. Security-minded people in a digital world need to be talking about such concepts more and spreading this, which is ever-evolving.

How it started vs. how it’s going (don’t you ever just take all your optics off so they can hang out?). I tried so hard to love LPVOs, and I’ve tried others since my first, but we just never really got along.

I keep my hands on my gun and my eyes on my sighting system more, nothing gets crossed, there’s no fuss, the rest is fundamentals. Have others arrived at this conclusion? Am I a fudd yet?

I think that’s a big reason that the ACOG was such a breath of fresh air for me.. it's not fancy, it’s nothing new, but it just works and works the same way every time.

@Cassie_B_Blue Sorry, if I had more bandwidth and was more actively doing reviews, I'd consider some alternatives for sure, but at best right now I can only speak candidly about the gear I already happen to be using. Someone should tho!

@tacticoolgf I figured it was battery powered but... Its not and its still bright and lit. It holds zero on my AK. Well, i should say it HAS held the zero. I'm sure the quality is closer to 'cheap hunting rifle' than 'actual tactical', but, for me, it works, clear picture, holds zero

The more I use this optic, the more it feels at home on the AR-15, and the more it feels like the AR-15 - despite numerous attempts to replace it since, it still persists largely unchallenged in its class in any meaningful way.

@TsoRaven Not if you shoot with both eyes open. But like I said, I have an offset red dot to make that even easier anyhow.

@tacticoolgf My question is why fixed 4x? Doesn’t that completely fuck up close shots?

@tacticoolgf you've been a huge inspiration when it comes to me getting on the gun and learning how to be effective with my 16" 5.56 if I could go off topic, I got a plan b device for a future suppressor, and was wondering if I need a protector/blastcan/etc until then to save the threads

@TurtlHurdl I hear ya, but good glass isn't cheap. Same reason great lenses usually cost more than the camera.

Some might scoff at the Trijicon tax. I held off on one for years due to this - I get it. The used market hardly diminishes that price tag, so I just went with a new one to ensure the tritium was still fresh, and I’m so glad. It’s by far my favorite optic now, and well worth it.

My performance with my ACOG at High Desert Brutality 2025 could be chalked up to experience, but I do need to lend some credit to this optic - it objectively made some of those shots and target transitions a breeze when I would have struggled more with other setups.
