Awalnya gua kira nonton short video di HP itu bisa menjadi pengisi waktu luang. Tapi setelah baca jurnal ini, gua baru tau efeknya bisa berbahaya untuk otak.
Penelitian dari Tiongkok ini meneliti 48 orang, terus dilihat kebiasaan mereka nonton short video, lalu dicek fungsi atensi & kontrol diri, didukung juga dengan pemeriksaan EEG.
Hasil penelitian ini cukup bikin gue kaget antara lain:
-Semakin sering nonton short video, semakin turun kemampuan otak buat kontrol diri
-Fungsi eksekutif otak, terutama atensi, juga menurun
Short video ternyata berasosiasi dengan overstimulasi dengan karakteristik cepat, singkat, dan penuh reward instan. Lama-lama otak jadi kebiasaan butuh stimulus cepat, sehingga bikin fokus jangka panjang makin susah.
Yang menarik dari studi ini adalah:
Semakin tinggi tingkat kecanduan (adiksi) untuk menonton short video di smartphone, berasosiasi dengan semakin rendah tingkat pengendalian diri (self control)

Kebiasaan nonton short video ternyata berkaitan dengan penurunan self-control dan turunnya fungsi eksekutif otak, terutama kemampuan atensi.

He’s a Chinese national and long story short, he feels ashamed of his compatriot’s extremely bad and unreasonable behaviors… he’s supposed to transit at KL and then fly on to Maldives that day, but due to the significant delay he couldn’t make it there. He said he did a one-day tour in KL. The video was apparently uploaded in Chongqing; so presumably he flew back to China…

A Bangladeshi man killed in a crash believed to have been caused by a drunk driver on the Maju Expressway yesterday has been identified as gaming content creator Advance Gaming.
Muzahid Millad, 22, died after the vehicle he was travelling in with his wife was struck while they were on their way from Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
His wife, 23-year-old Nafisa Tabassum Adiba, was injured and is receiving treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
The couple, who were from Habiganj, Bangladesh, had reportedly just arrived in Malaysia for a week-long holiday in the capital before the crash.

UTP has become the first Malaysian university to enter the top 40 of the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026.
UTP climbed eight places to 35th, its highest-ever ranking, while UM fell one place to 65th but remained Malaysia's second-best performing institution.
