@Globalgallop It’s always has been my favourite day, and today was no different. Even without the promotion & flashiness of ‘yesteryear’, it was still a great atmosphere on track, everyone enjoying themselves and fantastic racing.

I was lucky to have grown up in the era when Golden Slipper Day was the most important in Sydney racing. I’d love it to miraculously return to those days, however unlikely that may be with The Everest, The Championships now moving past it and getting the majority of promotional focus. But having five Gr1 races on a card is something that needs to be protected and enhanced as much as possible, it makes it a truly rare and special global event. Especially with the wider industry position that the Slipper has. And would also love it if the ATC would bring the Tancred Stakes back to Slipper Day. With the wider RNSW/ATC issues and power struggle, it’s a good topic for inclusion in that debate.

Hi @KarakaChat! 67 yrs ago, Even Stevens went through the NZB ring. He went on to win the ‘62 Caulfield & Melb Cups with my grandfather onboard. The sale yard’s changed but being here, during their 100th anniversary & with a tiny sense of a connection, gives me goosebumps 🖤
