@0zne I think the natural progression would be more designers taking on PM responsibilities (or vice versa), not so much engineers. Those skill sets overlap and are much more transferrable than engineering. I guess I’m not opposed as long as the real work of talking to users happens.

Coding and simultaneously understanding what the end-user craves. By eliminating the PM, companies like Stripe get immediate feedback loops. They drive rapid tests. And innovate.

@joshpuckett But also, that’s an annoying setback many designers don’t ever have to deal with, plus you have to figure out how you’ll address that if they ask UI questions in interviews (just be honest).

@joshpuckett As someone who was stuck by this in the past, I think the best thing a designer can do here is just redo their wireframes for the case study ignoring said bad guidelines. It’s just work necessary to show your own work in the best possible light.

Hard truth for designers: If you’re not getting responses from applying to a bunch of open roles, it’s because your work is bad 🚩🚩🚩 Hiring managers/recruiters make split second decisions, so if your work isn’t serviceable at first glance they’ve already moved on.

@anthrupad UX, behavioral psych, linguistics, systems thinking, and I hate to admit it but project management.

There are some subjects/fields (e.g. linear algebra, information theory, etc.) that completely shape how you see the world/frame new ideas (i.e. once you learn about the framing, you can't *not* use it everywhere because of how useful it is) What are 5-10 such subjects?
