@funplings the distinction gets murky with cognitive empathy vs. affective empathy. so maybe I'm not using the right terms. but at the core: learning to understand the process of someone's mind even if that process could never occur in my own mind was very useful.

@funplings theory of mind helps when someone holds a view I *can't* (or don't want to) empathize with.

empathy != theory of mind. understanding the difference was an essential step in improving my capabilities with both.

what's the point of selecting which currency to use when paying for something in a foreign country with a card? why doesn't it just always default to whatever is functionally cheapest for you?
