One day, my oyinbo friends asked if we should hang out at the bar, and I agreed. It was the first time I was going to the bar with them. We got there and took our seats. Everyone ordered what they wanted, but I drank lemonade because I had to drive, and I usually don't drink outside if I have to drive. (Note: I have not stopped drinking alcohol for many years. I also don't smoke cigarettes or take any substances) Others ordered all they wanted. Most of them drank beer and ate. When it was time to pay, I wanted to pay mine first, but I was told we would pay together. At that moment, they split the bill. I was shocked to pay much more than I anticipated. At that moment, it dawned on me that they split bills. Luckily, I had my ATM card with me, and I was able to pay my part. That was the first day I knew never to go drinking in groups without being ready to split bills. Culture shock? I don't know if you will call it that😂
