Lowkey, Szoboszlai and Wirtz are huge issues for Liverpool's balance. Szobo isn’t creative enough as a 10 and isn’t good enough deeper as a pivot. He fits as an 8 on either side of a 6 in a midfield three and brings energy and pressing. Wirtz requires at least one defensively minded ball winner and a deep passer to succeed as a 10. He shouldn’t be required to cover large spaces and should be left further forward. He isn’t good enough as a winger to succeed at LW. The only way I can see both of them is if Slot goes with the 4-2-2-2 long term with double 10s, but that would require a strong pivot that can cover large spaces and Liverpool would have width issues. The only way I see Liverpool working out next season is with one or the other in the XI, unless Szobo plays as a RB, but it looks like he’s been crying about that already.
