This New York Times piece is worth your time. Here’s what is happening, as simply as I can put it. Back in January, Trump sued the IRS, an agency he controls, demanding $10 billion over the leak of his tax returns a number of years ago. IRS lawyers did their jobs. They wrote a memo laying out the defenses that could beat the suit, including the fact that Trump filed too late. His own lawyer was in court when the leaker pleaded guilty in October 2023, more than two years before Trump sued. The Justice Department never showed up to court. Never argued back. Never used the defenses sitting on their desk. The judge got suspicious and ordered both sides to explain whether they were actually opposing each other or just colluding. The day before that brief was due, Trump dropped the suit. Same day, his Justice Department announced a $1.776 billion taxpayer-funded “anti-weaponization fund.”  Trump gets a formal apology. The IRS agrees to drop any audits of him and his family, even though a 2024 Times report found a loss in an ongoing audit could cost him over $100 million. The acting Attorney General, Trump’s former criminal defense attorney, picks the five commissioners who decide who gets paid. Trump can fire any of them. Proud Boys and Oath Keepers are not ruled out. This is the most corrupt thing I’ve ever seen from an American president. Where in the hell are my Republican colleagues? nytimes.com/2026/05/19/adm…

Here's how the corruption works: Thursday: RJ Reynolds donates $5M to Trump Saturday: Trump invites RJR execs to Mar a Lago; execs ask to loosen regs on flavored vapes; Trump calls up RFK Jr. and tells him to change it Friday: FDA changes the policy #donation-big-tobacco-vaping" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">nytimes.com/live/2026/05/2…

For two years, Mike Johnson refused to hang the plaque on the wall honoring police officers who defended the Capitol on J6 against a mob of violent rioters, even though a law was passed to mandate it. But he supports paying over a billion dollars to the criminal rioters.

The IRS has agreed to not audit Trump's taxes. In 2024, we found the IRS concluded in a long-running audit that Trump effectively claimed the same massive write-off twice on a failed Chicago tower. That audit could have cost him more than $100 million. propublica.org/article/trump-…

Remember: it was like pulling teeth to get Republicans to fund the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund. But it took them no time at all to create a $1.8 billion Insurrection Slush Fund to pay off the legal fees of the January 6th rioters who beat cops. These are sick, corrupt people.

After Nixon’s “I am not a crook” tax scandal, the IRS mandated that the president’s tax returns be audited yearly. Every president since Nixon (except Trump) publicly released theirs. With the new DOJ settlement ending his audits, Trump is essentially announcing “I am a crook.”

Tennessee Brando on Trump voters waking up: "I'm glad they're speaking out, but I can't give them a full pass. If you got duped the first go around in 2016, that's one thing ... but if you lived through Jan 6th and you still hung with him ... then, I mean, you're the reason we're here."

Under Biden’s last year, the U.S. economy added an average of 122,000 jobs every month.

Under Trump, that average has collapsed to just 26,000 a month.

In Trump math, that’s a “500% decrease.” (Around 80% in real math.)   My @Morning_Joe Chart:

Trump uses @mcuban as a prop as he announces and propagandizes to the American public the greatest government corruption scheme in the history of the United States. Mark is now part of history. Congrats! x.com/atrupar/status…

Mark Cuban stands behind Trump as Trump speaks on behalf of stealing from taxpayers. This is why you don't go to the White House to do events with Trump -- you end up disgracing yourself.

Reporter: How can you argue to Americans that you're cleaning up corruption, when the president seems to be talking up stocks that he owns, selling them and enriching himself? Vance: Come on, man, have a little bit of objectivity in the way that you ask these questions. The president doesn't sit at the oval office on his computer, on his robinhood account, buying and selling stocks. That's absurd. He's not making the stock trades himself.

Obama expressed empathy for Trayvon Martin and @benshapiro had a decade long tantrum. Imagine if instead he had stolen $1.8 bil from taxpayers and had BLM dole it out to whoever they wanted. Because that's what Trump is doing but for insurrectionist whites instead.

Trump's corruption just got *a lot* worse. The DOJ just expanded the absurd settlement giving him a $1.7 billion slush fund to ALSO bar the IRS from pursuing investigations into him, his family and his businesses. That's a huge, unconstitutional giveaway to Trump.🧵

A mind-blowing-but-true fact about Trump's stock trading. Trump traded up to ~$700 million in stock in Q1 of 2026. The 535 Members of Congress made ~$635 million in trades in 2025. Trump bought and sold more stock in 3 months than all of Congress put together did in a year.

Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” cuts Medicaid by $1 trillion. Here is what that means in plain English. It means a Maryland mom caring full-time for her disabled 28-year-old son loses $18,000 a year.  It means a single dad in Colorado caring for his daughter could see his income cut by more than $90,000 and lose his home.  It means a Nebraska mother told reporters she was preparing to sell her house so her son could keep living. These parents left careers. They bathe, feed, medicate, and monitor their loved ones around the clock. They save taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars each year by keeping them out of institutions.  And the Trump administration’s response? RFK Jr. smears them as fraudsters. House Republicans accuse them of getting paid to “hang out with their own families.” Republicans handed the wealthiest Americans another tax cut and mailed the invoice to families holding the most vulnerable people in this country together with their bare hands. This is incredibly cruel. And every Republican who supported it owes these families an answer. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/t…
